About the images...

Alicia Herder- manipulated digital photograph - 2007

Alicia is 16 in this photograph. It's a time when she can start to look me and other adults in the eye. When I was her age, I remember being aware of what I had come to know about myself as a distinct person, but being unsettled about not yet being able to image myself as an adult.

Young Girl Looking On - timed exposure digital photograph - 2008

This image reminded me of how I felt when I was a child. So much activity around me. I'm standing off to the side, trying to discern reality from the shadows and motion playing out within my sight.

Bear - digital photograph - 2007

I love this dog Bear. Plain and simple. Several years ago this animal opened my heart to love. I try to capture moments of her existance that remind me of a fundamental way she is. This photograph perfectly captures her making her "Woo, Woooo" noise. This noise means anything from "pay attention to me," to "it's time to go now," to "it is so fun to play with you."

Bumble Bee - Brown County, Indiana - digital photograph - 2008

Self Portrait Three - digital photograph - 2009

In the process of learning how to accurately capture someone in a photograph, I am trying to capture what I know of myself in one.
